Crohn’s and Colitis Declaration

In an effort to improve the quality of life of people living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, the CCFC calls upon all people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and fellow Canadians to endorse the following statements:

  • I support educating my fellow Canadians about IBD and encourage a greater understanding of what it is like to live with IBD. With greater awareness the stigma of living with IBD can be eliminated.
  • I encourage people with IBD to enjoy an excellent quality of life and, where necessary, receive therapy that improves both emotional well-being and physical symptoms.
  • I recognize the important role that education plays in managing the impact of IBD on daily life.
  • I support timely and equal access to specialists, allied healthcare professionals, innovative treatments and equitable reimbursement for these treatments irrespective of where a person lives in Canada.
  • I will help create an inclusive society that supports people with IBD.
  • I agree that a society inclusive of people with IBD means that places of business and recreation understand the importance of access to bathroom facilities.
  • I support the funding of groundbreaking research that leads to better therapies and cures, as well addresses the physical, psychological and social issues surrounding IBD.
  • I have hope for a bright future with more acceptance and understanding for Canadians with IBD!
